A Lonely Despair (Rise Above)
Tempest slid down to sit against the wall, tears streaming down her face even now. Three months and the pain still felt as fresh as it had the night she walked away. Three long months of ignoring calls from both Larissa and Viktor. She wasn't ready to hear their voices, just the thought of talking to them tore another hole in her already shredded heart.
As much as she hated them for what had happened, she missed them fiercely. She had never connected with other people as much as she had those two. Life was empty without them, the world a colorless canvas with no meaning. Lonely and dark, cold and blank.
Tempest had never really been truly o

Finally, after two weeks of being sick with the flu, Tempest was feeling better. Bounding out of bed, she padded to the kitchen in search of coffee and company. Viktor should be getting ready for work, which meant that Larissa would likely be making him breakfast. At the thought of food, Tempest's stomach growled loudly. After two weeks of no appetite she felt positively starved.
Sure enough, there was Viktor at his place at the table, reading the morning paper as usual, and Larissa at the stove, cooking what looked to be an omelet.
"Good morning," Tempest greeted, stealing a sip out of Viktor's coffee cup, grimacing as she encountered the
Larrissa woke up to sunlight streaming through the window. She smiled as her eyes found Viktor's pillow. On it lay two roses, one red, one white, and a note that read 'Forever', written in Viktor's careful handwriting. Picking up the roses, she inhaled their sweet smell.
Padding into the kitchen to make herself some tea and put the roses in water, she smiled again when she spotted a stuffed bunny, holding a heart in its paws, perched on the counter next to the kettle, a note pinned to it that read, 'Always', written in Tempest flowing scrawl. Another note rested beside it that read, 'press its ear', also in Tempest's handwriting.

Larissa and Sparks Tie the Knot
"I can't believe the wedding is today. Why does it have to be today already?" Larissa paced nervously in her wedding dress.
"Hey," Tempest stepped in front of her, putting her hands on her shoulders, "Calm down. Take a deep breath. Everything will be fine."
"I can't. What if something goes wrong? What if the cake doesn't make it? What if the DJ sucks? Oh God, what if I trip walking down the aisle?"
"Stop. You're just psyching yourself out now. The cake made it just fine. I went over the music thoroughly with the DJ. The caterer is on schedule, the flowers have arrived, and-" She was interrupted as Larissa's family walked in unannounced, "O
Tempest flopped onto the couch, swinging her legs across Larissa's lap, for their weekly movie night, a bag of candy conversation hearts in hand. Sparks was due to be home soon, so they were just waiting on him to pick a movie.
As a way to entertain herself as they waited, she would read some of the hearts before popping them into her mouth. The first few shared the same message of 'Marry Me'. Tempest didn't think much of it, sometimes the bags weren't mixed well.
Digging deeper into the bag, it wasn't long before Tempest found herself peering into the bag with a confused look. "Strange..."

It was the middle of a rainy afternoon as they strolled through the campus center, Larissa under the shelter of an umbrella decorated with rubber ducks and lightning bolts, designed by none other then Tempest herself, who left herself open to the elements, letting the rain wash over her.
"I'm just saying, is it really necessary for me to be here? I mean, really, what are they gonna teach me about art? History? Woohoo..."
"Tempest, just take the classes. College is an important part of growing up."
"Oh, now you just sound like my parents."
"Well, as much as I hate to admit it, they're right."
"Ugh... Fine. I'll take the stupid classes."
Tempest stared at the phone in her hand, rereading her text for the hundredth time, wondering whether she should actually send it or not. It had been more than a week since the night that she'd begged Larissa to make the choice to believe her over what her family said. Almost two weeks without contact. It was killing her. Sure, they'd fought before, what friends didn't, but this was the longest they'd gone without at least talking.
With a sigh, she deleted the text and set her phone down on the table. Pacing through her apartment, Tempest snatched up a paintbrush she'd left lying on the counter. Twirling it between her fingers, she paced and

One trigger
One hurtful careless comment
It doesn't matter
I brought it on myself
The thoughts come rushing in
Screaming inside, til you can't hear the world around you
You pull your hair
Bite your lip
Scratch yourself
As tears puddle
It doesn't stop
It won't
The heart aches and clenches
Your chest feels so tight
You can't get enough air
You want to scream
But you must be quiet
No one likes to hear you scream your pain
You can't let them know how broken you are
How you never seem to heal
Find the closest sharp object
Slash your skin
Over and over
You don't even feel th
Why is it my fault everytime we fail to get along? I'm not the only one causing the problems dammit. I react the way I do because of the way you treat me. Get off your high fucking horse before I knock you off it. My patience and nice meters only go so far. Push me to my limit and you can watch me break. Watch the cracks form in my sanity.
I feel my walls building again. The very ones that have been brought down time and again. Like the phoenix, they rise from the ashes of their destruction. I've grown so tired of fighting to be the person they expect me to be. I want what I want, not what they want. I want to make my own choices, my own mi
